OLD GEELONG RD BRIDGE NOW OPEN FOR COMMUTERS

Old Geelong Rd now has a new bridge, connecting Hoppers Crossing and the Princes Highway - without the disruption of incoming trains.

In 2018, our Government promised the dangerous and congested level crossing on Old Geelong Road would be removed by 2025.

The project was instead fast-tracked is now gone – four years ahead of schedule!

With the boom gates scheduled to be physically removed in February, Wyndham will be level crossing free on the metro line!

GRAND OPENING OF THE DIANELLA COMMUNITY CENTRE 

The Minister for Suburban Development, Shaun Leane recently joined us in Tarneit West for the grand opening of our fantastic new community centre!

The state of the art Dianella Community Centre features two kindergarten rooms with an office, three community meeting spaces, two training rooms, a commercial kitchen, three consulting rooms and an integrated service office.

The outdoor areas include a large external courtyard, amphitheater, outdoor recreational area with BBQ, carparking and landscaped gardens. 

The Victorian Government provided $2 million through the Growing Suburbs Fund and $2 million through the Children’s Facility Capital Program towards this great project.

POSITIVE START 2022 INITIATIVE 

We're supporting primary and high school students by providing the opportunity to attend camps and cultural excursions in the new academic year through a $112.9 million investment.

The program will focus on students from government and low-fee non-government schools who have been most affected by COVID-19 school closures – as well as students and schools that might otherwise be unable to participate in an outdoor education or camp program.

More than 325,000 fully subsidized places for students across various programs with the following organisations:
  • Sovereign Hill
  • the NGV
  • Melbourne Zoo
  • AFL sporting workshops
  • and many more...

FUTURE-PROOFING VICTORIA'S MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEM

We know our mental health system needs to be expanded – and we’re getting on with delivering more beds so people in Melbourne get the support they need, close to home
  • 144 mental health beds
  • $492 million investment
  • New mental health facilities built across Victoria
  • Sponsoring 132 junior doctors in psychiatry rotations
This is part of our promise to provide more bed capacity and better trained workers, with work underway on a major expansion of mental health beds, and more support to give doctors vital training in psychiatry.

CAMBRIDGE PRIMARY SCHOOL'S NEW PLAYGROUND

Better facilities are on their way for students at Cambridge Primary School with the appointment of builder Modus Projects to deliver the school’s new multipurpose playground. 

This $369,665 investment is about ensuring our schools have the best facilities indoors and outdoors - because learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door.

NEW EARLY PARENTING CENTRE FOR WYNDHAM

Did you know Wyndham is getting a new early parenting centre, set to be completed by 2024?

The centre will be close to Werribee Mercy Hospital, nearby shops and community facilities and will offer parents targeted support focused on the child’s critical first 1,000 days.

Delivered by the Tweddle Child and Family Health Service, this center will be part of the $123 million investment by our Government to ensure new parents and their babies have the right advice and care they need, to assist them in their new journey.

BIG BOOST IN OFFSHORE WIND TO DRIVE JOBS

Our goal of 50% renewable energy by 2030 is now one step closer, with a new funding boost of $40 million for offshore wind projects to drive jobs and bring forward the next wave of renewable energy opportunities.

Part of the Energy Innovation Fund, the Labor Government is kickstarting three major offshore wind projects, making use of Victoria's wild windy coastline to create gigawatts of reliable, renewable energy.
  • $19.5 million to support pre-construction development activities for a 2.2 GW offshore wind farm off the coast of Gippsland;
  • $16.1 million to facilitate initial development stages of a 1 GW offshore wind farm off the Bass Coast; and
  • $2.3 million for scoping studies and surveys for a 1.5 GW offshore wind farm off the coast of Gippsland.
