COVID Catch-Up Plan
Delivering for Patients
The pandemic has meant healthcare has been disrupted for lots of Victorians, while doctors and nurses focused on those in the most critical condition. That's why we've got a COVID Catch-Up plan to get Victorians the care they need.

A cornerstone of this plan is the establishment of seven metropolitan Rapid Access Hubs across the State over the next year – including one at Werribee Mercy Hospital.

Rapid Access Hubs are fit-for-purpose theatres designed to separate surgery that can be performed quickly, from emergency and acute surgery. They will be designated for patients who have been waiting for surgery for a long time and are at risk of their condition worsening, such as cancer screening tests (endoscopy) and joint replacements.

This means staffing can be streamlined and the number of surgeries performed everyday increased.
