BUS BOOST FOR NEW ESTATES IN MELBOURNES WEST

23 May 2019

Communities in Melbourne’s west will have better access to public transport thanks to the Andrews Labor Government, with bus routes being extended to new estates and more services linking with trains at peak times.

The Labor Government is extending service coverage to more areas, and doubling frequencies in the peak on some routes to make travel easier and more accessible for communities in the growing west of the city.

Under the changes being introduced on 28 July, services will deliver better links with Werribee, Tarneit, Williams Landing and Hoppers Crossing Stations.

Route 167 will have seven extra services across the AM and PM Peak between Tarneit Station and Bethany Street and one full evening service between Tarneit and Hoppers Crossing Stations.

Four extra services will run in the PM peak for Route 495 between Williams Landing Station and Point Cook South.

Route 498 will see five extra services between Hoppers Crossing Station and Point Cook Town Centre across the morning and evening peak.

Weekday services on Routes 191, 441 and 497 will also be extended into new and expanding residential areas.

Route 191 from Werribee Station will be extended to Manor Lakes and Jubilee Estate in Wyndham Vale, Route 441 from Werribee Station extended to Riverwalk Estate and Route 497 from Williams Landing Station extended further into Saltwater Coast Estate.

Minor timetable adjustments will also be made to Routes 166, 181 and 494 to accommodate these changes to the other Routes in the area.

New timetables and maps outlining the service changes will be available from 28 June on the PTV website at ptv.vic.gov.au.
