Work has started on the new and improved Central Park Community Centre in Hoppers Crossing, backed by the Andrews Labor Government.
Member for Tarneit Sarah Connolly and Mayor Mia Shaw turned the first sod on the $1.1 million project to revitalise the Central Park Community Centre and connect the new seniors’ exercise park with a children's area, so grandparents can exercise with their grandkids.
The Andrews Labor Government is investing $425,000 towards this project through the Growing Suburbs Fund, which supports the creation of community connections and enhanced services and provides greater opportunities at the local level.
The project will be delivered by Wyndham City Council, with the council contributing $675,000 to construction and supporting its operation into the future.
The project will deliver:
- A new community lounge
- Co-working spaces
- New community meeting, consulting and training rooms
- Integrated indoor and outdoor areas
This project will create an additional 8 ongoing operational jobs and once completed will provide a place for seniors, children and people with disabilities to socialise and access vital services.
