EXTRA FUNDING FOR GROWING SUBURBS

05 June 2020

The Victorian Government is boosting funding to new and improved community facilities in the City of Wyndham’s growth suburbs to create jobs and support local businesses as we recover from the coronavirus crisis.

Applications will open on 9 June for local projects to improve community access to vital services thanks to a major $25 million expansion of the Growing Suburbs Fund.

The Fund has already invested more than $25 million over 19 projects in Wyndham including works for the protection and enhancement of Werribee River’s iconic K Road Cliffs and Riverdale Community Centre in Tarneit.

Driving jobs and investment across outer Melbourne and inner regional areas hit hard by life saving coronavirus restrictions, the extra funding will bring forward new and upgraded facilities such as libraries, local parks, playgrounds, community centres and sporting facilities.

It complements the Victorian $2.7 billion Building Works Package, which includes over $278 million in shovel-ready infrastructure projects across the state to be delivered through councils.

Councils are encouraged to apply for the Growing Suburbs Fund at: https://www.localgovernment.vic.gov.au
