MORE TRANSPORT AND EMERGENCY SERVICES FOR LAVERTON

24 April 2024

The Allan Labor Government is making it easier for residents in Melbourne’s West to access essential services through investing in a suite of new infrastructure projects in Laverton.

Families in Laverton and surrounding suburbs will benefit from more than $46 million worth of projects funded through the Growth Areas Infrastructure Contribution (GAIC) fund.

Projects in Laverton include:

  • $39.7 million for new and modified bus routes between Tarneit and Laverton North.
  • $4.5 million to upgrade Williams Landing Station.
  • $1.8 million in additional funding to build a Victorian State Emergency Service facility in Tarneit.

Through the GAIC fund, our Labor Government is investing more than $400 million into 37 infrastructure projects across Victoria.

The GAIC fund is a one-off contribution payable by landowners developing land that has been zoned for urban use and development in the Cardinia, Casey, Hume, Melton, Mitchell, Whittlesea and Wyndham local government areas.

The fund supports the Labor Government’s landmark Housing Statement by delivering key transport, health, community and education infrastructure to ensure communities in growing suburbs have access to the services they need, close to where they live.

“Access and safe cyclists parking ensures more in our community can use our public transport system. It's good for congestion, and good for people.”
