TARNEIT CLUBS SCORE SPORT GRANTS

03 November 2022

Eleven grassroots sport and active recreation organisations in Tarneit are set to bolster their coaching skills, administration expertise, or score new sports equipment thanks to a share in more than $18,000 from the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Tarneit Sarah Connolly today announced the successful applicants from Tarneit of the latest round of the Andrews Labor Government’s Sporting Club Grants Program.

The grants provide clubs up to $1,000 for new uniforms and equipment, up to $5,000 for training coaches, officials and volunteers, and up to $5,000 to improve club operational effectiveness.

Grant recipients in Tarneit include Truganina Thunder Football Club, who scored $1,000 to purchase playing jumpers for their Mixed Boys and Girls U8 teams, and Yidnekachew Tessema Social Soccer Club, which is receiving $4,986 to develop a Strategic Plan for the Club.

The Program is part of the Andrews Labor Government’s commitment to make community sport more accessible and inclusive, stimulate local economies, build sustainable sport and recreation and volunteer opportunities, and increase local participation.

Since 2014, the program has injected more than $13.8 million to support clubs and last year provided a valuable funding lifeline to 611 clubs to help them through the pandemic.
