02 September 2020

A masterplan for fast-growing Tarneit North in Wyndham has been backed by the Andrews Labor Governments Growing Suburbs Fund.

Local Government Minister Shaun Leane and Member for Tarneit Sarah Connolly have announced that the Growing Suburbs Fund will provide $2.5m toward the Tarneit North Masterplan Implementation Project.

A major upgrade for community facilities in a rapidly-developing area, the project will help Wyndham City Council to deliver a new community centre and sports facilities, a landscaped playground and picnic area with

barbecues and a path network.
With Tarneits population expected to grow by 163 per cent to more than 130,000 people by 2040, investing

now means families and new residents will have the facilities they deserve close to home.
Through support for a wide variety of different projects like this, the $25 million expansion to the Growing Suburbs Fund will continue its strong record of job creation and investment in communities an important contribution to recovery from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Growing Suburbs Fund investment complements the Victorian $2.7 billion Building Works Package, which includes over $278 million in shovel-ready infrastructure projects across the state to be delivered through councils.

Since its establishment in 2015, the Growing Suburbs Fund has invested $275 million in funding 221 community projects. This has created more than 7470 jobs and leveraged more than $755 million in investment.
