05 April 2019

The Member for Member for Tarneit, Sarah Connolly MP has congratulated Truganina South Primary School for reducing its environmental impact through the Andrews Labor Government’s ResourceSmart Schools Program.

ResourceSmart Schools is a free program offered by Sustainability Victoria that supports Victorian schools to embed sustainability across the school facilities, community and curriculum, while saving resources and money for the school.

Since 2008, ResourceSmart Schools has engaged more than 1,400 schools across the state to collectively save over $24 million dollars and avoid creating more than 60,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases.

Truganina South Primary Schools has been awarded five stars for completing the required ResourceSmart Schools modules and meeting benchmarks for energy usage and waste reduction.

The certification recognises the school’s leadership in engaging and educating the local community in sustainability practices.

Ms Connolly is encouraging other schools in the Tarneit region to sign up for the ResourceSmart Schools program and reduce their environmental footprint.
