An exciting upgrade is on the way for Lawrie Emmins Reserve in Laverton North thanks to support from the Andrews Labor Governments Growing Suburbs Fund.
Member for Tarneit, Sarah Connolly has announced Wyndham City Council will receive $1.5 million from the Growing Suburbs Fund towards the project worth a total of $3.7 million. The Growing Suburbs Fund helps Melbournes rapidly developing interface and peri-urban councils deliver high-quality facilities for their communities.
Lawrie Emmins Reserve Upgrade:
This project will deliver a vibrant youth precinct and activated gateway into Lawrie Emmins Reserve. The youth precinct will include: A large plaza with shade and seating BBQ and picnic facilities Skate park for skate/scooter and BMX Outdoor bouldering/climbing -Outdoor basketball, netball and multi-use courts Outdoor exercise equipment Irrigated high quality lawn areas Service connection points for events Public toilets; and car parking.
The Growing Suburbs Funds $1.5 million grant, as part of the project, will go towards the delivery of the plaza, shelters, BBQ & picnic facilities, skate/scooter & BMX space, bouldering/climbing equipment, outdoor courts, exercise equipment and high-quality lawn areas.
Since its establishment in 2015, the Growing Suburbs Fund has facilitated $913.2 million in local infrastructure, created more than 8,880 jobs and supported 253 projects across Melbourne's fastest-growing areas.
