Truganina North Secondary School - Members Statement
22 June 2021
Families in Tarneit and Truganina deserve first-class local schools, and that is exactly what our Andrews Labor government is delivering for them. It was absolutely fantastic to be able to announce last week that our government is actively looking at acquiring land in Elements estate in Trug to build one of the two campuses for Truganina North Secondary School. Now, at the start of this year, residents in Elements estate were really worried after the Catholic Education Office walked away from building a school on this land, and the developer started looking at other options, including building more housing. But our community have been very clear; they want to see this land used for a school.
I want to commend the Acting Premier’s office and the Department of Education and Training for actively listening to residents in my community and working together to develop a rather ingenious solution that will deliver even greater benefits to Trug families. This is a wonderful outcome, and I want to thank the many, many residents living in Elements estate who have reached out to me and my office over the last few months to show their support for a school being built in their local community. This is a perfect example of what can happen when residents get together and work together with their local MP to deliver a real solution and a positive outcome for our community. I cannot wait to see this school become a reality in the not-too-distant future, when the school finally opens its doors in 2024.
